Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have faced increased attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian aerial assaults have resulted in blackouts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and dealt with disruption to drinking water, per reports from local authorities.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a different assault in the southeastern region in the southern area, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has intensified attacks on electrical systems over recent weeks, while the country's government has called for "concrete actions" from partner nations to apply pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the America, the EU and the major economies - in providing defensive weapons and applying restrictions," mentioned in a public message.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty projectiles attacked the country's power systems, describing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were laboring to restore power.

A wave of strikes damaged energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people injured in the attacks on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by local officials.

Local officials said the urban area endured heavy assaults throughout the evening. A minor was killed and three other people were wounded.

The assaults follow evenings of bombing campaigns in the region, sections of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.

The whole nation is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are tougher to identify.

Government officials told journalists that Moscow was intentionally trying to damage the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already impacting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and authorities were preparing for additional strikes.
