Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from March of 2023.

The win also indicates he has secured 21 titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on court had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was over.

However the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He rescued 4 early break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
